Jannus Live, the 30 plus year old infamous concert venue in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida, took on new ownership in early 2010. The outdoor courtyard formally known as “Jannus Landing” is set to not only be a live concert venue but also aims to broadcasting live shows on tv and the internet.

Enter Clear pH. Our initial mission was to tackle the name change. A series of concepts in the early stages were created around the shape of the court yard buildings, however, the client wanted an emblem that was further reaching than the local venue. We worked on a series of looks and this rather Stalin like, Russian looking symbol started to take shape. Add an old school microphone and there we were!

Our next step was the larger part of the project. To give the public a concert site that was new, innovative and different enough for people to want to stay on The site needed to provide information fast and efficiently and have a primary feature (billboard like area) that could promote and get tickets to sell.

Using a blog platform, we felt in this modern era of Social Media we would let the site virtually self populate with Twitter, Facebook and You Tube Feeds. We custom developed the site and it’s back end to allow the management team to take over and populate with reviews, photos and blog posts easily using a very simple CMS system.

As a creative firm we went the extra mile to create a site that could keep it’s trendy look even with non designers entering the pictures and content, by using fixed header sizes and image crops that would only show elements of the images in interesting cropped formats.

Outcome

The two killer elements that blew the client away were the custom footer (which we have since installed on our own site) that allows the web user constant and quick access to all the key elements – Tickets, Contact Info and Directions, no matter where they are on the site. The second was the dynamic header which allows the viewer to get a taste for what is coming up, all at once. The headers are iphone / ipad friendly (no Flash) and show beautifully on the smaller screens… given the constant changing technology we are always looking to keep our clients one step ahead.

The “Jannus Live” name change took the locals some getting used to, but with the logo hand painted by local artist Johnny Vitale on the entrance to the VIP section, staff and security all emblazoned with the brand and spot lights featuring the logo on the city walls, I think it’s safe to say it has been a success!

Next the internet TV channel… stand by.

Having worked on Jon’s last album, I was graciously asked to help create this one. With a shoot set up in Jon’s home town of Miami, Jon chose non other than the amazing Gio Alma (www.gioalma.com), an amazing photographer who has shot the likes of Gloria Estefan, Ashanti, Andy Roddick and Tommy Lee Jones.

“Classics” (“Clasicos” in Spanish) was recorded at Big3 Records. The album is an amazing collection of Jon Secada’s favorite classic songs by legendary artists such as Frank Sinatra, Ritchie Valens, Doris Day and Ben E. King.

Clear pH wanted, to create a “classic” look and feel through the photography and styling, as well as utilize color to capture a slight hint of his Latin flair.

Jon’s amazing wardrobe looked incredible, placed in some stunning architectural locations. The timeless photography came out fantastically, and so we set to work in post production…

Creating a very subtle grey/blue color and vibrant orange combination the outcome just looked striking. We created his name in a very modern Miami style font and worked it into our favorite shot by Gio Alma; a close up of the old school microphone with Jon singing, eyes shut. We cropped the cover and illustrated a die so that the microphone could be embossed on the digi-pack. This was a subtle effect that came out perfectly and gave a great illusion of depth on the cover. The overall design is very simple; we just let the photography do all the talking.

This man has an incredible voice. I have been a fan since my days in Dubai listening to “Just Another Day Without You…” but once I heard and saw Jon perform live I was astounded… great performer… great family man… if you get the chance, listen to his work or see just how many great hits he’s written for other people!

OR buy his albums and check out our great design work…

Planet Beach Corporate hired Clear pH to assist them in transitioning their nation wide stores from being purely indoor tanning to introducing more of a cosmetic and “Spa” like atmosphere.

Our objective was to work closely with the marketing department to create a Cosmetic line that they would private label and distribute throughout the United States. As you scroll down here we wanted to show the process we went through from early concepts to the final look at the bottom of the page here.

Some of the best cosmetic products on the market today are very simple. Look at Estee Lauder or Clinique for example. In Planet Beach’s case this actually helped them as budget was an issue when it came to printing so we stuck with two colors on the packaging and created a simple earthy design. If you have ever seen Indoor tanning products you will know they are loud and colorful! The FACE line being white and simple had excellent shelf presence in their stores and was a very successful launch.

HomeAid is a leading national non-profit provider of housing for today’s homeless. The organization builds and renovates multi-unit shelters for America’s temporarily homeless families and individuals, more than one million of whom are children, while they rebuild their lives.

ClearpH was hired to develop the on-line web presence for the Tampa Bay chapter. Reviewing HomeAids current nationwide presence we felt we could really help them get their message across using strong visual aids with captions that drove home the message in a heartfelt and more impact-full manner.

We also introduced them to using social media as a free and easy way to gain interest in their cause and implemented a system that once they write the stories on their blog it populates to their twitter, facebook and other social media outlets.

Since creating this site we have been fortunate to open further opportunities with the overall nationwide campaign.

We couldn’t say no! Our imagination ran wild thinking of the aquatic possibilities. Their theme for the year was “Journey To Atlantis.”

I immediately called Troy Plota and asked him to donate his time to something we thought could be just so beautiful. Knowing Troy’s underwater capabilities we wanted to create a mystical underwater world. The shoot as you can see in the images was not as some may think in the Aquarium tanks but actually in a controlled swimming pool.

There are so many elements that need to be right when shooting underwater. Water clarity, natural light, water temperature (which we didn’t quite have right due to the time of year and the necessity to execute the project quickly, hence Troy’s wet suit!), and stillness.

The models braved the chilly pool and we set to work. Water can bring surprises and our first attempt with a white wedding dress almost drowned our model! A quick change to the moody black outfits and we were feeling it.

Adam Daniels our go-to Photoshop re-toucher collaborated with our Creative Director and the final outcome as you can view below was an ADDY winner hands down for Digitally Enhanced Photography.

Our overall use of the image can be seen in our “Campaign”section.

Thanks to Troy and Adam for their commitment to the Arts in helping us give the Florida Aquarium an amazing result! The Gold ADDY Award for “Digital Image.”

Clear pH donated our time and skill-set to assist “The Spring”, a Non-Profit Organization, the largest of Florida’s 42 certified domestic violence shelters and the first in the United States to have an accredited school on site.

The event was a night of fashion held at Saks Fifth Avenue in Tampa. We created the Identity, Poster and Print materials to help promote the event and assist their successful efforts to raise funds for the shelter.

Our theme was based on fashion, so in order to create drama whilst keeping the look classy required for Saks, we created a dramatic image of a high fashion girl who was beautiful yet haunted by domestic violence. Her image in the mirror is bruised yet her exterior image is steadfast and beautiful. A very serious matter that we were very proud to be able to help with.

SRQ Magazine hired Clear pH to create an editorial spread for an upcoming issue. The situation was dire as they had been let down and the time-line was thin. We had to use all our resources and connections here at ClearpH, from hair to make-up to models. Practically everyone on this two day shoot worked for next to nothing.

We even had the people from the Aston Martin garage supply an incredible vehicle for the shoot and DONZI happened to be doing a show in the nearby marina so we got to do an amazing production in the Sarasota waterways doing over 80 mph while holding onto Troy as he leant out the side of the boat and shoot the models in the other DONZI. Scary stuff!!

The story line was a heist, in which a “Bonnie & Clyde” type characters stole jewels from a bank (we actually shot in a bank safe) made a drop off from boat to fast car and made a getaway to a mansion all shot in SRQ’s home town, Sarasota in two days.

We then worked on all the files in post and illustrated over the images mixing vector art with real photography to create a surreal yet sexy and stunning composition.

WooHoo Foods wants to move adults and children away from the empty calories of processed junk food made in a lab and back to the nourishing ingredients of real food.

Clear pH was hired to help this group of entrepreneurs including one Harvard graduate to help create the branding, from the Identity to their Candy packaging and their Web site. We created a fun half cartoon half real look to the site with a strong emphasis on appealing to children and getting the kids to believe it’s fun candy, which it is – BUT it’s all natural and good for you.

We created “fun facts” that keep popping up educating the consumer on the nutritional facts. The site has a Content Management System for the client to be able to maintain their site themselves. A store locator has been installed, that will grow as they grow their distribution, along with a clean, simple shopping cart. We also streamlined all their social media so when they posted updates it populates to all their Twitter and Facebook accounts one time to save extra work!

A fun account for a product that is just hitting stores and growing rapidly… look out for those “Gudernoobs.”

Despite being based in Florida this shoot was done on one of the coldest winter days and Troy, the models and assistance went out of their way to get this amazing shot. Note that Richie in the top left of the image below managed to escape having to jump in!

Clear pH was hired by a Web Development firm to help re-brand and redesign a web presence for a large Legal Firm in South Florida, Florin Roebig. The challenges involved taking the attorneys old traditional look and revamping their look and feel while respecting the traditions of their trade and not stepping too far over the line.

The outcome was dramatic. We created a series of compelling banners that ran across the top of the site hoping to play on the heart strings of potential customers and hitting home the strong messaging that Florin Roebig cares and have successfully defended many cases. In between we introduced individual Partners within the firm with a statement from each.

They were so pleased with the outcome of the project they have taken one of the tag lines we created and intend on using it to roll out for future campaigns: “Decades Of Experience Working For You.”
